2014 Conference Key Notes
Nir Diskin is responsible for leading ViryaNet’s growing worldwide team of developers with diverse skill sets in business and engineering disciplines. Mr. Diskin has held a number of management positions within the ViryaNet R&D organization since joining ViryaNet in 1996. Nir was appointed to Vice President of Product Management in 2000. Prior to his promotion, Nir headed the e-product team in R&D. He was named Vice President, Engineering in September 2005.
Nir brings with him a well-rounded management background, including serving as a Major in Israeli Air Force where, in leadership positions, he dealt with avionics software development. He holds a BSc in Computer Science from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel.
James has been with GE 16 years. He joined Smallworld in 1998 – following completion of his doctorate, in GIS, at University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. During his time at GE, James has worked in both pre and post sales roles in the telecommunications business. He has been Telecoms Product Manager since 2002. In this role his primary responsibility is to work with the customer base, understand the market conditions and translate that into the product roadmap
James now holds the role Product Line Manager for Smallworld Telecoms, meaning he is responsible for all aspects of product management relating to the Smallworld telecoms software.
Lectured at the Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology and Krajowa Szkoła Administracji Publicznej. President of the Board of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne SA (1998–2001) and Polish National Energy Conservation Agency (1993–1998). Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Construction Industry in charge of energy efficiency issues in the municipal sector (1991–1993). Representative of Poland at the committee of SAVE, the first EU programme involving Poland (1997– 2000). Former member of the National Development Board, advisory body of the President of the Republic of Poland. Currently Secretary General of the Public Advisory Board for the National Emission Reduction Programme which advises the Vice Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy, also independent consultant. Theoretically and practically investigates issues of energy efficiency, energy policy, renewable energy sources and commercial power engineering. Works at the Department of Building Construction, Warsaw University of Technology.
Didier is Geo Director for Europe Middle East and Africa, responsible for leading sales teams across EMEA, development of business strategy and identifying new growth opportunities for Google Enterprise in the region.
Didier has 25 years of professional experience in IT for Enterprise Solutions, first in engineering and then in sales. Didier has joined Google from Oracle where he was Vice President of Oracle Direct for Western Europe, based in Paris and responsible for leading the development of Oracle’s technology, ERP/CRM solutions and services portfolio.
